1 czerwca Komitet Green Line – Rada Miejska zagłosuje nad najdroższym projektem w historii Calgary, pierwszym etapem Zielonej Linii.

Kiedy projektowano 4,9 miliarda dolarów Green Line, wolne miejsca w biurach w centrum miasta wynosiły 3,7%.

This out of touch city council musi zmierzyć się z rzeczywistością.

Alberta is broke. Calgary is broke. Not the right time to be taking on massive billion dollar debt that will absolutely flow through to property taxes, cuts to services, increases in fees for water/sewage/garbage and more. Take that money or a portion of it instead, and invest it into long term job creation, the innovation ecosystem, investor tax credits that the province took away, etc…

I recently moved to Calgary for my job and I have seen nothing but increases in fees, taxes, etc…it is time to stop the hemorrhage of money and give the taxpayers a break and let us catch our financial breath!! We don’t need all these new places and things at this point….We need to focus on the needs and not the wants…..WAKE UP CALGARY!!

How to pay for it is only one issue, and a key one at that. But the cost of not expanding the C-train lines comes with a figure all its own. Development will focus on places where the red and blue lines reach, forcing Calgary to grow unevenly, with economic, transit and density issue which we don’t have now, and don’t want for the future. I hope Calgary will have the Green Line, and others too, and that with this investment the city will maintain and expand its world leadership as one of the best places to live, anywhere. But relying solely or mostly on individual’s taxes seems unfair. I wish much wisdom to our elected leaders as they seek intelligent solutions for this.

The City’s current plan is based on old assumptions. It fails to take into account that everything has changed. Failing to rethink the Green Line would be a $4.9 billion gamble.

>>> TUTAJ <<<
